The 2009 Nissan GT-R has finally been caught undisguised after a cover shot for the December issue of Motor Trend was leaked. According to MT, the GT-R has a 0-60 time of approximately 3.5 seconds, an 11.7 second quarter mile, a 192 mph top speed, and a base MSRP below $80, 000. The competition for this car includes the Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo. Based on some tests, the GT-R has matched these cars and has set some stunning times at the Nurburgring as well as Laguna Seca. In addition, Nissan testers set their sights on the Porsche Carrera GT after beating the 911 Turbo around the Nurburgring track.
Official specifications have yet to be announced but power is expected to come from a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 that produces approximately 450 to 480hp. The GT-R drives all four wheels through a rear-mounted transaxle and a dual clutch six-speed transmission.
People had doubts about the Nissan GT-R. Some thought it was too heavy and wouldn’t handle well, some thought it would be too expensive for a Nissan, and some thought that there was no way it could match or crush a Z06 or 911 Turbo. This car looks stunning, already has shown incredible performance, great price, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a Nissan or an Infiniti. It could be called the “Shitty GT-R” and still dazzle people.
